Every day in India is associated with the celebration of a different God. It is believed that celebrating different gods on different days gives meaning to a person’s daily life. Each God has a different contribution to the lives of devotees and celebrating a particular God on a particular day only increases the prosperity of that day. On Saturday, Lord Shani is believed to be praised.
Lord Shani is the son of Surya (Sun) and the personification of the planet Saturn. According to astrology, it is one of the most feared “graha”. It is believed that if one’s Saturn is an obstacle, then no other planet can give a positive result – God is the power of Saturn.
In Vedic astrology, Shani is one of the nine planetary deities called Navagrahas. Each of the gods (sun, moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, and Saturn) emphasizes a different face of fate: Saturn’s fate is karmic, individuals pay for either the evil or good they have during their lifetime done to take advantage of. Astrologically, Saturn is the slowest of all the planets, staying in a particular sign for about two and a half years. Saturn’s most powerful placement in the zodiac is in the seventh house; He is favorable to the ascendants Taurus and Libra.
To get rid of the negative effects of Lord Shani, people are not allowed to perform these tasks. They should also avoid eating and buying certain items to get the blessings of Lord Shani Deva:
The Shani Mantra is used by Hindu traditional therapists during the 7.5-year Saade Sati period, to avoid the harm of having Saturn in (or near) one’s astrological home. There are several Shani mantras, but the classic one involves reciting five swear words by Shani Bhagwan and then bowing to him.
• Nilanjana Samabhasam: In English, “The one who is resplendent or glowing like a blue mountain”
• Ravi Putram: “The son of the sun god Surya” (called here Ravi)
• Yamagrajam: “The elder brother of Yama, god of death”
• Chaya Martanda Sambhutam: “He who is born to Chaya and the sun god Surya” (here called Martanda)
• Tam Namami Shanescharam: “I bow down to the slow-moving one.”
If you are under the influence of Shani and are going through hard times or difficulties in your life, here are some home remedies that you can try to counteract the effects of sade sati:
You can lessen the effects of Shani by pleasing Lord Hanuman or praying to him. Offer Him prasad and sing the Hanuman Chalisa every Tuesday and Saturday.
Offering the poor some black til, dressing, or mustard oil are good ways to impress Shani. Do this every Saturday, because donating more equals good karma. However, it will take time to show the results, but the good news is that it is a good start.
Feeding a black dog or vegetarian food to the poor and needy on Saturdays is also a good way to deal with the effects of Shani. Try to be generous and not stingy when giving food to the poor. For example, preparing and donating a home-cooked meal is much better than buying from a restaurant and delivering it in a package. Because that implies you were trying to do something good for someone instead of taking the easy way out.
Alcohol is not only bad for your health, but also angers Shani Dev. Avoid drinking, eat clean & live a healthy and disciplined lifestyle for positive results. Avoid alcohol, especially on Saturdays and Tuesdays, and smoke if possible. Otherwise, you will be cursed with worse luck. And drugs, certainly not drugs because they are not only bad for your health but also for your karma.
It is said to be one of the best ancient medicines to reduce the effects of Shani. You can also wear a black horseshoe ring on your middle finger and pray for it every day. It works!
Besides the Hanuman Chali, you can appease Shani Dev by chanting other sacred mantras such as the Shani Mantra (Om Sham Shanicharaya Namah), Maharitunjay Mantra, and Jaap.
On Saturday, no matter what, dress in black. Do not buy black leather goods, clothing, and also brooms on Saturdays.
Here it is! Remember, you won’t see any results once you start applying our tips and home remedies. You will have to give it time and be patient. The best thing you can do is focus on changing your lifestyle, getting rid of bad habits, and staying consistent. Your character and dedication will impress Shani Dev and will lessen the bad effects, not some temporary resources or phases of trying new things. Do that, and we are confident that your future will change for the better or at least move in the right direction.
